Our Story

We're the Wrights!

Nine to fivers in our late 20's making a living in marketing and engineering. Jenn spends her free time practicing yoga, cooking and is quickly becoming an amateur sommelier. She has an eye for making order out of chaos and her design ideas always generally turn out great, but the words "Just trust me on this" come up often! Ross loves rock climbing and woodworking and has a knack for bringing ideas to life. With an affinity for fine leather and rich mahogany, his design spirit animal is certainly Ron Burgundy.

We married in 2013 after meeting in college seven years earlier. Our wedding featured bourbon in place of champagne - a tribute to our hometown Louisville, Kentucky. We moved into our home the weekend after the wedding and have been renovating room by room ever since.

Purchasing and renovating a turn-of-the-century fixer upper was the only way we could afford our desired neighborhood and, thankfully, had always been a dream of ours. What to renovate has never been a problem - check out our before pictures here. HGTV, Houzz, and countless bogs are great sources of ideas, but stretching the budget to make them possible is the hard part. We had to go the DIY route out of necessity. We'll share the tricks we learn along the way and hit on the budget aspect of renovation and household finance as we learn to do more with less.

We have a goal to hang up the nine to five jobs in 15 years and enjoy more time with each other while working fun part time jobs. We've been on this path for a few years now, boosting our savings while enjoying dinners out on the town and nice vacations. It's all possible, you just have to know where to look. Join us as we turn our old 1920's foursquare house into a home, eat great food, and travel the world.
